DNS is used to convert between IP addresses and host names. Networks are commonly scanned for DNS servers which can be exploited. It's very rare for a home computer to be a DNS server, so these scans are usually looking for servers. Although several versions of the DNS server used on Linux and Windows servers are vulnerable to an attack, your computer is safe.
